An idea I couldn't ignore...

February 09, 2016 by Kate Collingwood in Portraits

I dreamt about this and I imagined, and pondered over it for nearly 4 months...how to capture it, where to shoot, where to get the right snorkel mask.... But then I was gifted the cue to get off my butt and get busy. We were at my husband's family farm near the coast, he was ferreting around in the wardrobe looking through old boxes of photos, when he said, "Hey, look what I found'... He held out an old, deteriorating blue snorkel mask. Brilliant!! Get the camera, grab a kid, head for the water. Admittedly the light wasn't perfect and the water wasn't as still as I had hoped, hence I headed for the old pier. After a few duck dives and soaking pants, I freed my model and raced home to see what I had. Think I have the catalyst for another little project....
